Seeking Donations from Colleagues
A solo practitioner colleague in Southeast Florida is facing a financial crisis. By May 1, this fellow Florida Bar member is facing a foreclosure filing, a tax lien, and potential bankruptcy. For nearly 10 years he has been a successful, hardworking solo, but has recently been devastated by the economic crisis.
Severe reduction in income, uninsured family medical expenses, complete loss of investment assets, and resulting difficulty paying self-employment taxes (not to mention a ruined credit score), have made an untenable situation. Despite great effort, it has not been possible to raise the funds to relieve the situation.

Maybe Some Bar Colleagues Can Help?
This Bar member has tried conventional means, to no avail. Banks and loan companies (even loan sharks) have no interest in assisting anyone with poor credit, late mortgage payments, and sizeable tax debt. As the April 30 pre-foreclosure deadline and May 7 tax-lien deadline loom, the Bar member has become despondent. At the end of his rope, he is appealing to the compassion of fellow Bar members.
